Congratulations to our 3rd Quarter Honor Roll students (Evania,Payton, Jacob Ray, Ellis, Destiney, Isaiah, Alex, Chloe, Haben,Kevin, Sukie, Eric, Ian and Yuki) for their hard work throughout thewhole quarter 3. They earned free dress down day on Tuesday,April 24.
Also, congratulations to our 3rd Quarter perfect attendance students ( Alex, Evania, Noah, Angela, Yuli, Chloe, Evan, Kyle,Isaiah, Xian Hua, Vincy, Haben, Payton, and Ivan) for being in school every day. They earned free dress down on Monday, April 23.

There will be no school tomorrow, Friday, 4/13 - SchoolImprovement Day!
On Monday, 4/16, we will have our Spelling and Reading/ writingtest- Moving Day.
Wednesday, 4/18 is Parent- teacher conferences. Please comeduring scheduled time! Wednesday will also be a non attendanceday for students.
Our Earth day Recycle Projects are due on Mon, 4/23. Parents are welcome to watch their presentations.

Room 102 Spring break assignments
Dear room 102 parents:
Your child received their spring break book report this week in their homework folder. Please return this report by Friday, April 6.
This next assignment is optional, but everyone is highly encouraged to practice these assignments:
IXL Math - Place Values and Fractions and IXL Language Arts - Contractions
Also, our March Reading Log is due on Monday, April 2. Please read every day!
James Ward is participating in an optional, educational fundraiser called the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Math-A-Thon. St. Jude provides care to sick children - any family who comes to the hospital receives care, regardless if they can pay or not. We are raising funds to help them in their mission to serve the families of sick children. OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $1,000! Please return the completed workbooks due with CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS PAYABLE TO “ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL” on Monday, April 9. Thank you and Happy Spring break!

It's been a busy week this week, not only that we celebrated the Valentine's Day and the Lunar New Year, but we also celebrated our 100th day of school, all in one week! Wow, can't believe how time flies!
Just a reminder that next Monday is a no school day.
On Tuesday, we will have our reading/ writing test, "Who's in a Family?" Please be sure to go thorough the reading word list no 10. Also on Tuesday, 2/20, the following PERFECT ATTENDANCE students are free to dress down (Hilda, Evania, Noah, Jacob Ray,Vincy, Kyle, Haben, Chloe, Louis, Sukie, Payton, Evan, Isaac, Eric,Angela, Ian, and Ellis).
On Wedensday, 2/21, the following HONOR ROLL students arefree to dress down (Payton, Isaiah, Ellis, Xian Hua, Destiney,Evania, Alex, Eric, Haben, Ian, Kevin, Isaac, Chloe, and Sukie).
On Thursday, Feb 22 is the last day to turn in your Six Flagsreading log if you want your child to participate.
We also have our math test on Money (penny, nickel, dime, andquarter) on Thursday.
On Sunday, Feb 25 is our Lunar New Year celebration day. Paradeis @ 1 pm. Luncheon is @2:45 pm at Ming Hin restaurant inChinataown square.

Dear 102 families,
Your child should receive a list of spelling bee words today.Classroom Spelling bee will be on Monday, Jan 8 and the schoolwide Spelling bee will take place in the auditorium on Friday, Jan12. Only the top 2 students from our class will compete in theschool wide Spelling bee. Make sure that you child practice overthe break!
Thank you for those who signed up to bring dishes, snacks,dessert, drink, and utensils for our food festival on Thursday, Dec21, right after the 9 am assembly. This is also the day for your childto perform the Russian dance. Make sure to follow the guidanceas what to wear for the dance.
Thank you for your generosity, together we were able to raisealmost $110 for children with Leukemia and Lymphoma, last month.Thank you!

Dear 102 families,
Our classroom will be performing a Russian dance on Thursday,Dec 21 during our school Multicultural Day . I would like to inform all families about the dress code for our little dancers. Boys are encouraged to wear white top and black pants, girls are encouraged to wear a red dress or a combination of red-gold, red-green, or red-white will also be acceptable. Here is one example what the girls would wear for the performance. Please google Russian dance to give you more ideas! If you are still not sure if your child's dress is acceptable, please send me a photo of it or come see me after class to discuss about it. We don't want anyone to feel that they need to buy a new dress, so please come see me if you are not sure about it. And as always, I appreciate all your support to make this performance a great one!

We are starting our 2nd quarter and our unit study this month to the end of December will focus on Family and Friends. In this study, we will experience Thanksgiving and Christmas & the various family traditions we celebrate as a community. Some of the skills that we will be learning through this unit, such as:

Week of 11/6
We are starting our 2nd quarter and our unit study this month to the end of December will focus on Family and Friends. In this study, we will experience Thanksgiving and Christmas & the various family traditions we celebrate as a community. Some of the skills that we will be learning through this unit, such as:
- Students will learn who the Pilgrims were and they will learn about the Pilgrim’s trip to America
- Students will learn who the Wampanoag are and how they live long ago
- Students will be able to find text evidence about the changes of weather from Fall to Winter
- Students will be able to use textbooks along with additional readings to increase comprehension.
- Students will be able to view movie & listen to music related to celebrations, Scholastic newspaper, graphing for data collection & Family Tree project.
- Students will be able to use addition and subtraction to model and solve number stories. (Problem Solving)
- Students will be able to measure lengths using nonstandard units and begin working on addition – fact fluency.
